Why I do what I do. What is your WHY?

Apologies for the delay in this weeks blog post! I had quite a tough week, I had no idea what to write about, I’d lost a bit of my passion.. It’s back! Don’t worry haha.

This weekend I listened to an amazing podcast that put a lot of things into perspective for me and affirmed my reasons why. I have been listening to the “Be About It Podcast”, this particular episode featured Nike Master Trainers Max Artsis, Kirsty Godso, Brian Nunez and Branden Collinsworth. Listening to these four highly successful people bring up a lot of great points really challenged my thinking and has slightly changed my perspective on how I now take on the world. Each of the trainers involved in the podcast talk about the type of person they are, and in turn what type of trainer that makes them and how it reflects in their work. The type of energy you put out into the world affects how people react to you.

I sat down and really thought about my training ethos as well as my values as a person. The type of coach/trainer that I want to be is someone who inspires people to get the most out of themselves. I love to stimulate confidence in others and develop relationships with my clients to guide them to their goals and I hope to give off an energy of self-love and inner-strength. I really enjoyed listening to Brian talk about his ethos, he describes himself as a ‘connector’, that he likes to think that he connects with the people around him but also connects them to their goals. I feel that he and I have quite similar values with our business as well as the way we interact with others.

SO, what is my why? - I want to help people around the world bring their goals and expression to life, and be there to connect them to their highest potential.

Some of my favourite points from this podcast, which I think can be applied to every day life, whether your are a trainer, an athlete, an office worker, whether you do or don’t workout, anyone. I think the points still remain the same and that’s why I wanted to share them with you.

Don’t be your own limiting factor:

Whether it be in training, your mindset, your career, anything! Ignite a fire, know why you’re doing what you’re doing and believe in yourself.

Don’t let anyone else get in your head, know that you can do whatever you set your mind to if your intentions are in the right place and don’t place too much value on the opinions of others. If you believe you can achieve something, chances are, eventually you will! Don’t get in your own way of success.

Raise the bar, challenge yourself. Don’t become complacent with what you have achieved, reaching success should not be the only driving factor, you should be striving to be the best version of yourself always. A great point was made that you should always strive to be the best that you can be, part of that is realizing that we are constantly growing and evolving. You should never feel that you have reached ultimate success and then stop striving for your passion, there is always a step up from any situation.

Be humbled. Whether this be with your training or your career, never stop pushing yourself to do more and learn more. If you’re no longer being humbled by the things you are yet to achieve then you have hit a plateau and are no longer growing. Let yourself feel challenged, don’t ever assume that you know everything there is to know and don’t only train programs that you have mastered, push yourself, try new things continuously.

Double down on your strengths, be your own biggest fan!

Be a mirror for the people around you:

I would love for my clients to be able to say that I am a mirror for them. I enjoy being there for them through their achievements and helping them reach their goals, but I also like to think that I build great relationships with them and help them to see the potential they have.

“If everyone looked at a girl in the room as if she were a queen, she wouldn’t be able to help but to rise to those standards and feel as though she was one.”

This quote is amazing, and I absolutely love it! You can’t help but to become what other people see in you, whether it be good or bad. So be a mirror for people, show them that you believe in the best version of themselves and they will begin to reflect that!

Just eat real food:

Never use the word diet - this point is more about not speaking with limiting words to yourself, rather than being all about food.

This can be in any aspect of your life but the example they used in this podcast was based around eating habits. Eat based on your decisions and decide to eat healthy because you choose to, and you celebrate your body, not because you dislike the way you look. Build positive relationships with food and stop feeling guilty when you indulge in the foods you love, decide to eat what you’d like to eat and stand by your decision for that meal. Don’t ever say “I can’t eat that”, replace this phrase with “I am deciding not to eat that.” The more nourishing, wholesome foods you eat, the better you feel so you will begin choosing those foods based on these positive feelings.

Lastly, your vibe attracts your tribe! They spoke a lot about energy and the type of energy that you give off as well as surround yourself with. The more positive energy you put out into the world, the more positive energy you will attract in return.

Give the podcast a listen! I have embedded it below for those interested. It goes for a while but it's well worth it. I hope it helps you as much as it helped me.
